Frequently Asked Questions
In our “Build Your Own Plan” form, any field set to –1 is interpreted as “unlimited.” In other words:
– If you leave a numeric field (e.g., Email Accounts, Addon Domains, Databases, Subdomains, etc.) at –1, the system treats it as if you want no artificial limit on that particular resource.
– Under the hood, we store “–1” to flag “unlimited” instead of having a huge hard cap like “9999.” Once you submit the form, the billing engine knows “–1” means “bill me as if this resource is infinite” (and therefore priced according to our “unlimited” rate for that resource).
In practice, if you choose –1 for, say, “Databases,” you’ll be charged the unlimited-database flat fee (or whatever our current “unlimited databases” rate is), rather than being assessed a per-database price. Whenever you see a field prefilled or defaulted to –1, it’s simply a shorthand: “I do not want that thing capped at a specific number—I want unlimited usage.”
Absolutely! You are free to upgrade (or even downgrade) your Build-Your-Own configuration at any time. Here’s how it works:
1. Log into the Client Billing Portal. Navigate to the “Services” section and find your current hosting package.
2. Click “Upgrade Plan.” You’ll see the same form you used to build the original plan—just with your current selections filled in.
3. Adjust any resource up or down. For example, if you originally had 50 GB SSD and 5 email accounts, you could bump that to 75 GB SSD and 10 email accounts.
4. Review price changes in real time. As soon as you change a resource (or switch from HDD→SSD, or vice versa), the billing calculator shows the prorated difference between what you’ve already paid and what the new configuration costs.
– Proration: If you upgrade halfway through your 30-day billing cycle, you only pay the difference for the remaining days in that cycle.
– 24 hour activation: New resources (e.g., added disk or database slots) take effect within 24 hours—no need to wait for the next billing cycle.
5. Submit and confirm. Once you accept the new total, you’ll be prompted to pay (if there’s any additional balance). Your plan is upgraded immediately.
Note: Downgrading can also be done at any time, but if you remove resources (e.g., drop from 100 GB→50 GB), make sure you have no data sitting in the “removed” portion (e.g., > 50 GB of files).
Every Build-Your-Own plan is generated on a per-feature basis, then “rounded up” slightly to ensure it never undercuts any of our prebuilt plans. Here’s how it works:
– Unit-Price Components
– Storage (SSD): \$0.50 per GB /mo
– Storage (HDD): \$0.20 per GB /mo
– Bandwidth (SSD): \$1.00 per TB /mo
– Bandwidth (HDD): \$0.75 per TB /mo
– Email Accounts: \$0.30 per mailbox /mo (SSD) or \$0.25 (HDD)
– Databases: \$1.00 per database /mo (SSD) or \$0.75 (HDD)
– Addon Domains: \$0.50 per domain /mo (SSD) or \$0.40 (HDD)
– Subdomains: \$0.10 per subdomain /mo (both SSD & HDD)
Simply multiply each slider or quantity you pick by the matching unit price. For example, if you select 8 GB of SSD storage, that portion contributes \$4.00 (8 × \$0.50) to your subtotal.
– Unlimited Options (Flat Fees)
If you check “Unlimited” for any feature, you pay a single flat monthly fee instead of the per-unit rate. For instance:
– Unlimited SSD Storage: $30/mo
– Unlimited HDD Storage: $15/mo
– Unlimited Bandwidth: $10/mo
– Unlimited Email: $10/mo
– Unlimited Databases: $10/mo
– Unlimited Addon Domains: $5/mo
– Unlimited Subdomains: $2/mo
Once “Unlimited” is selected, your form ignores that feature’s per-GB or per-unit calculation and applies the flat fee.
– Multi-Year Discounts
Once your final monthly total is confirmed, you can choose to prepay and receive a fixed credit:
– 1-Year Prepay: (12 × monthly price) – $2
– 2-Year Prepay: (24 × monthly price) – $4
– 3-Year Prepay: (36 × monthly price) – $6
